31st May is being observed the world over as “No Tobacco Day” as per WHO guidelines. In India, both smoking and smokeless tobacco use is rampant, creating extensive impact on health of the people and the economy of the nation. Hence, No Tobacco Day is an ideal opportunity to increase awareness regarding ill-effects of tobacco use, benefits of quitting and awareness about various services available at different government and non-governmental organizations.
On this occasion, Centre for Dental Education & Research, AIIMS has organized an advocacy meeting on 26th May 2015.
1. To apprise the role of Government and WHO in Tobacco Control Activities.
2. To discuss the role of government in supporting Tobacco Control Activities by the dental colleges.
3. To increase the role of Dental Colleges in Tobacco Control Activities.
Key officials dealing with Tobacco control from the Ministry of H & FW, WHO, Heads of Dental Institutions and Faculty In-charge of Tobacco Cessation Clinics of dental institutions are expected to participate in the meeting.
